Need a new drive
Nov 16, 2008 Ideas Leave a comment
After storing so many photos, programs, games, music and video files, my laptop is almost out of disk space. A friend suggested that I should transfer my photos and videos to cds but that would take forever since I have gigabites worth of photos and videos. The easiest way that I’ve thought of is to transfer my files to an external hard drive. I’ve seen a 320 gb external drive go down to $75 which is really cheap and of course, transferring files to another drive is way faster than repeatedly copying files to cds. I’m somewhat excited about doing the mentioned process so then I could install some more games and do much more things with my laptop.
My hubby wants a new cellphone!

Its been a while since my hubby got his p990i and then after some time he gave it to me. Now, he wants the new G1 from T-Mobile or any phone that has a GPS receiver. His been eyeing it for a month now eversince it was launched. The one thing that makes him undecided is that, he doesn’t like the way it was designed. According to him, G1 looks like a plastic cellphone toy though he wants the color bronze or the white one but when he checked it at T-Mobile website, it is out of stock. So he is waiting for it.

But I don’t think he’s still going to buy this phone after he reads some short updates from other sites that I just visited a while ago and here’s what they’ve said: The phone is 4.6 x 2.16 x 0.63 inches, weighs 5.6 ounces, features a 480 x 320 HVGA display, sports 3G (obviously), GPS, has a 3.1-megapixel camera, supports up to 8GB of memory (though no format is mentioned), and will feature 5 hours of talktime with 130 hours of standby. Strangely, the phone won’t do video capture (what?), won’t have stereo Bluetooth, will require a Gmail account (this one is OK, we both have gmail account), and won’t be sold at stores outside of a 2-5 mile radius of T-Mobile’s 3G coverage areas. That last bit sounds a little odd to us, but we’re guessing a lot of the functionality of this device will be shot in non-3G regions.
Well, it is still up to him… I like the G1 though I hope he’ll get it ![]()
Corel Graphics Suite has almost no value!
Nov 8, 2008 Ideas, Programs Leave a comment
I can only say that its not true… I used to work as graphic artist/designer back in the Philippines and since then I’m already using Coreldraw for all my design projects. It’s the best and easiest software for drawing tools. Later that year, I switched to Adobe Photoshop as my main software for graphics designing but not for vector graphics. I would say that Coreldraw is still the best and the easiest among others especially on making brochures with 16-page in single PS file that is ready to go on a CTP RIP with correct bleeds and registration marks without using any other software title. Do you think you can do that on InDesign? Coreldraw has been doing this since version 9.

I’m writing this entry because I just recently read a review about the latest Coreldraw X4 released by Corel Corporation. The owner of that review blog/website said that ‘CorelDraw X4 Sucks’ and it has almost no value. He’s comparing it to what Adobe can do. Whatever?! Tell me why should we buy and use 4 separate titles (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat) to get the same results we get with one (ok, two, but hey, they are in the same package) title? What does Adobe offer more than Corel? And don’t hit me coz I like Adobe too. It’s a good software and one of the best too and If I’m not mistaken, most widely used in the market. I think its only in the habbit, what you get used to is a major factor… that is what I believe. On my case, I’m used to both of them and still exploring and learning other features of them.
The game room
Nov 8, 2008 Ideas Leave a comment
My husband always wanted a room where there would be all kinds of entertainment stuff. Like a game room. A room with different kinds of video games, video players, wide screen TV, theater seating, gaming chair and what not. Since we both like things like these, I personally would enjoy such a room. But since we live in a small one bedroom apartment it would be impossible to have a game room. Maybe we can make a small section of our living a little game area but still it wouldn’t be the same experience as having a real game room. Maybe, next time if or when we get a bigger place or our own house. I’m definitely looking forward and excited to move to a new place and make this room possible.

My dream business
Oct 15, 2008 Ideas Leave a comment
I’ve always wanted to start my own business even when I was still in the Philippines. I’ve concluded that there’s absolutely no way that I’ll be successful in life if I just work for a certain company unless it’s a major company I work for and I have a very good position. So, the only way I can reach my goals is to start my own business. I’ve thought of so many kinds of way to start a business and how to handle my business and make it a successful one. To me, the key to a successful business is correct management, budgeting and planning.
Until now I haven’t forgotten about one day being my own boss. My husband and I always talk about what we could do in the future. But for now, all we can do is to save as much money as we can and then later on fulfill our dream of having our own business.
Midnight Meat Train!
I like the month of October because its a month filled with ghost stories and bloody movies hehehe. Since Halloween is almost here, I can watch horror and gory movies at Comcast On Demand channel until I get tired of them LOL. I started by watching Midnight Meat Train. I’m telling you, you’re gonna love this movie if you are a slasher and a bloody movie fanatic. Almost every scene will make you cringe… (insert scary sounds here)!

The movie runs 1 and 1/2 hour. It’s a short movie but wont hang you with vague endings. The train in this movie is the most terrifying ride you’ll ever take bwahahaha!
Oh BTW, Brooke Shields is the only actress in this movie whom I’m familiar with. Here’s the video for the trailer of the movie. Have fun guys and advance happy Halloween to all!
I really dont like BB phones…
Oct 4, 2008 Cellphones Leave a comment
…but I was hypnotized by the newly announced BlackBerry Storm 9500 after seeing the pictures. It has a Display type of TFT touchscreen with 65K colors a 3.15 MP camera, 2048×1536 pixels, autofocus, video, flash, Built-in GPS, A-GPS function, BlackBerry maps and a lot more. I know SE P990i is better than this especially their display screen colors. Also this BB has a big screen but it doesn’t offer the handwriting recognition. Well, I’m a little bit happier of what American phones has to offer in the market today. They’re doing good unlike before when they were so behind.
Anyways, going to another topic, fall seaon is already here. I can see the fallen leaves everyday. They’re beautiful to watch as if they’re preparing to rest and sleep for the whole winter season and be back again in spring with new and fresh flowers and leaves. I can feel the coldness here in Chicago. The one of the coldest city I’ve heard. You can no more see ladies wearing swimsuits, short shorts and even skirts. Oh well, I hate freezing weather. It makes me sick and lazy.
manual electronics

If you live in a remote area where electricity is very scarce I would recommend that you use manually powered appliances. There are many things that normally require electric but can also work manually like wind up clocks, watches, wind up fans, wind up radios and much more. Although these appliances require effort and time to make them work, they sure work like regular appliances and plus you save electricity by using them.
If I were alone and lived in a forest or the mountains, I would love to use the mentioned appliances. See, I love simple things and would like a very simple life. It’s just that things like these would really suit my personality.
storage drives

I’ve been using computers for a long time now and I must say I’ve never used tape drives before. You all might think that I’m so ignorant but I never even heard of a tape drive before. I’ve used different kinds of storage drives like hard drive, cd drive, dvd drive, disk drive and floppy drive. It’s kind of weird to me that a thing that a lot of people use like the tape drive I don’t even know exist.
